Personality and Performance with the RSPCA

Effective teamwork is the foundation of any successful organisation, and at the RSPCA, creating strong, cohesive teams is essential for delivering their mission. I had the privilege of providing a tailored training session designed to enhance team collaboration by exploring individual personalities, communication styles, and social preferences.

Through engaging discussions and activities, participants gained a deeper understanding of how their unique approaches to communication impact team dynamics and interactions with other departments. By recognising and embracing differences, the team strengthened their ability to work together effectively.

One of the key focuses of the training was helping team members recognise their own communication and social preferences, as well as those of their colleagues. By identifying these differences, participants developed a greater awareness of how their interactions could be perceived by others.

This understanding allowed them to adapt their communication styles to better connect with their teammates, reducing misunderstandings and building a more supportive working environment.

Understanding Individual Differences and Communication Styles

Enhancing Team Cohesion Through Inclusive Strategies

While not all differences relate to neurodiversity, the training also addressed the importance of using inclusive communication strategies that benefit everyone. By applying the same principles used to navigate neurodivergent communication preferences, team members learned how to bridge gaps between varying social styles and create a more unified team.

This approach not only improved internal team dynamics but also enhanced collaboration with other teams across the charity.

Strengthening Collaboration Across the Organisation

A strong team does not operate in isolation. Throughout the session, we explored how communication extends beyond immediate colleagues and impacts cross-departmental collaboration. Participants reflected on how their preferred ways of working influenced relationships with external teams and identified strategies to improve mutual understanding and efficiency across the organisation.

By adopting open communication and embracing diverse perspectives, the RSPCA team reinforced a culture of mutual respect and cooperation.

Through this training, the RSPCA team gained valuable insights into how communication and social preferences shape workplace interactions. By embracing differences and applying inclusive strategies, they have strengthened their ability to work cohesively as a team and collaborate effectively across the charity.

The Result

"Zoe delivered a presentation that helped us understand how we were all different in our team, yet our differences are what made us stronger as a team. She delivered with passion, energy and a smile on her face to keep us engaged throughout. Would happily recommend Zoe to other teams.”
